Indoor air quality and indoor air pollution has emerged as one of the major areas of concern. Various health organizations including the American Lung Association believe that indoor air quality/air pollution is one of the major causes of respiratory irritation among workers and home owners. Recent research has started to clarify how a variety of common air quality pollutants can combine to have a profound impact on our health when present at even very low concentrations.
At EEI, we help schools, hospitals, businesses and home owners determine if their air quality is adversely affecting their health. EEI also works with our clients to find cost effective ways for improving their air quality. Even if the air quality is healthy by OSHA or EPA standards, an uncomfortable environment can still affect a child's ability to learn or an employee's ability to be productive.
Whether a client wants to examine the air quality for a common air pollutant such as dust or an exotic air pollutant such as 4-phenylcyclohexene (4-PC, the main chemical responsible for the smell of new carpet), EEI can perform the necessary investigative techniques. All data gathered is documented in a complete and clear report for the client. This report includes an introduction which provides the background, and scope of work for the project. The next portion of the report provides an executive summary of the data collected along with a more detailed description of the results. Conclusions and recommendations based upon the data are also provided. The report also contains a complete description on how the data was collected, including a summary of the sampling and analytical techniques utilized. The final section delineates the quality assurance and quality control measures implemented to ensure accurate data. Finally, the report will include an Appendix containing support documentation for the project.
